A modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of West Texas oil rigs

A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as a go-between for exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners who have mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.

They essentially manage the land and secure leases to drill for oil and gas. As foremen on a construction site, they build roads, worker housing (and camp), oversee the assembly of excavation machinery, and the drilling of the well site itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part of the fixer, problem solver, and helper.
Landman is another Taylor Sheridan hit in a long line of them
It has everything you want from a good series, there’s plenty of drama, action, twists, even a little comedy, etc. It’s obviously beautifully written, because everything Sheridan does is, but it also has an amazing cast. It stars the incredible Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, Ali Larter, Demi Moore, and more.
The same goes for Hamm
Billy Bob Thornton was born to play this role, he’s absolutely amazing here. I’d be shocked if he wasn’t nominated for an Emmy for his performance here. In addition to being brilliantly written and acted, it’s also brilliantly filmed.
Sheridan has so many great performances, and Landman is one of the best of them
It feels like it’s going to be a long run, and I’m here for that.
